Having spent some time with main VW agents who did not know about off peak scheduled charging and my new car and after phones calls from Germany it has been confirmed that the Tiguan ehybrid 2024 cannot be charged on a time schedule from the app or wall mounted charger. VW could not explain why this facility is no longer available. So it would seem that charging is only possible on plugging in. In order to use off peak electricity it means manually plugging in at 12.30 am!!

I got a golf gte 8.5 about 3 weeks ago and I can't schedule a charge either. I have a pod point and have set schedules in its app. But it doesn't always charge it like the pod point trys to charge but the car is in deep sleep mode and I have to wake the car up with the vw app then it will charge. VW need to add the schedule charge back soon as I'm having to wake up to start the charge at 23:55 every night so it doesn't cost me a small fortune to charge up. Anyone else have any idea if they will add it?

For the last four years I have charged my Golf Mk8 GTE using a 13amp granny charger and set it to charge using the timer in the car. Now I have the Mk8.5 version I a want to charge it the same way but now annoyingly I have to set it to start charging manually. Not in a position to change to Octopus Intelligent until next April and reluctant to buy a wall charger.
gtoth23gt have you spoken to the dealer about this? I have booked in at the end of the month with my dealer about this but I fear they will say “they all do that, gov.”

A ID7 screen that shows the ‘Charging loc.’ that is missing on my GTE. The online manual for my car clearly says it should be there!

Sorry. I have posted both my and a ID7 infotainment screen on this forum twice. I am following this issue on three forums and obviously getting a bit confused. Please note that this Tiguan forum is the most informative on this subject. The other two are also not very positive about a satisfactory outcome 😢.

A socket timer or smart socket will do the job although it doesn't answer the question as to why VW delete yet another feature...
I have the 2022 eHybrid.
IMO the most reliable setup is to have a charger controlled by Octopus.
My Zappi charger is linked to Octopus Intelligent Go.
The VW car app is not linked to Octopus in any way. my advice is do not integrate the car to Octopus.
If when selecting charger integration it does ask for a car (not sure if it does now) try and select one with the closest capacity battery, this worked for me in the past, such as Golf GTE.
In the case of the Zappi, once the integration is created with Octopus, the charger rests in Eco+ mode and will only charge when it sees surplus.
This surplus trigger can be from….
1) Solar generation, don’t worry if you don’t have solar panels
2) Or a signal from Octopus telling the CHARGER to charge for each tome slot.
As far as the car knows, it’s plugged in to a charger which is WAITING TO CHARGE when surplus is available.
I can’t see this will be an issue for the new 2024 Hybrid without the car scheduling feature.
My setup has worked well for the last 2 years with no issues.
I plug the car in, it briefly charges for 30seconds to check the connection is good.
The charger then pauses waiting for surplus.
I then get a push notification from the Octopus app with the overnight charging slots.
Also to reassure me, I switched on announcements for the Octopus notification in iPhone iOS, so just after I plug the car in and I’m walking through the front door, it reads out the charging times. Saves me having to check the app that the schedule was set successfully.

Bad news and good news.
Took my Mk8.5 GTE to my dealer yesterday for them to find the missing in car drive battery charge timer which had been present in my previous Mk8. Much to my annoyance they confirmed that, like several on this forum have said, this useful function is not available.
BUT they did say that VW are planning to make this feature available sometime in the future. They had no idea as to the timeframe. Thought it might be done over the air.

I have a September purchased Tiguan Hybrid and can confirm the same issue. The car will not accept a delayed charge nor, despite the online manual saying to the contrary, can a time charging be set up. Confirmed by my VW dealer though they are puzzled by this situation and suggest that maybe a SW fix will be issued shortly! The problem is the car Which CW need to sort asap.

i can confirm that with an ohme home pro scheduling through the charger is possible to get the cheaper rates, hope this helps

Fist of all is that I am don't have any official information and this is only my investigation and my theory.
TL;DR
The functionality removed at some point and it should be come back, but maybe with other or similar functionality.
Volkswagen shows that the functionality was there

So from my point of view, the functionality removed from final software of the car in order to introducing smart features in the new charger from Elli , brand of Volkswagen.
They will add it at some point but not sure if it will be the same functionality as we know from previous generation of ID cars.
To be honest as the other says, one of the most important functionality is missing.
Set when your car wish to charge or be ready for leaving and that's it.
Now you need to either wake up in the night to start charging, or calculate when you start the charging in order to be ready when you need it.
On the other hand I saw that the departure time is there for the climate... Also useful but it should be together with charging as it should be.

Yes just picked up the new Tiguan hybrid 2024 and scheduling is possible on the Ohme app. But, it's not fully charging the battery only 80% in 5 hours. Checked schedule and it seems the charge power fluctuates between 7.7kw and 3.8kw. If it was constant 7.7kw then it would charge in 4 hours. Any ideas?
FYI
There's the max charge option on the app which fully charges the battery to 100% but can only be used at the time so around midnight. Btw I'm with British Gas. 7.9p KW
