Having spent some time with main VW agents who did not know about off peak scheduled charging and my new car and after phones calls from Germany it has been confirmed that the Tiguan ehybrid 2024 cannot be charged on a time schedule from the app or wall mounted charger. VW could not explain why this facility is no longer available. So it would seem that charging is only possible on plugging in. In order to use off peak electricity it means manually plugging in at 12.30 am!!
Just purchased a Tiguan 2024 Elegance ehybrid and discovered it is a complete nightmare to charge. The digital manual shows a charging app similar to VW ID models but no settings are available in this 2024 ehybrid model. I was never told about this change - were you?

I just want VW to accept its like a recall problem for them to repair with a useless app. I have an Ohme wall charger which doesn’t charge the car and it’s all VWs fault NOT OHME.

The only way I can charge the car is by attaching a 3 pin plug charger and switching on immediately. The car just hates the Ohme Charger set up with Octpus Go.

I can’t belie that VW can’t solve this problem.

When I move house shortly I was planning to buy a Ohme charger and choose a suitable Octopus tariff so that I can charge my Golf GTE which has the 19.7kWh battery. Looks like I will have think again 🤬.
Sorry but it looks like you will have the same problem. Can’t charge from an Ohme wall box. Probably the same for other wall chargers.

Time to set up a pressure group of all VW people who have this problem and force VW to do something about it.

Found the following on the Volkswagen Newsroom dated 5 March 2024 -

“19.7 kWh high-voltage battery. The new Passat eHybrid will enable electric WLTP ranges of about 100 km. Previously, it was up to 57 km. The significant increase in range is achieved thanks to a new high-voltage battery. Its net energy content increases from 10.6 to 19.7 kWh compared with previous versions (gross: 13 to 25.7 kWh). The battery has a new cell technology for the 96 modules and external liquid cooling. Since the lithium-ion battery is also positioned in front of the rear axle, the interaction with the front-mounted drive (electric motor, DSG, TSI) results in balanced weight distribution.”

So the battery is a surprisingly large 25.7 kWh. Playing with figures I suspect at 100% the battery capacity is the 25.7 kWh. At 80% 20.56 kWh. This might mean that at ‘0’ miles range the battery is damagingly depleted at a mere 0.86 kWh.

All I want to know is what is the actual buffer when the range has dropped to ‘0’ miles.
Anyone know?

Update on scheduling charging Tiguan ehybrid. My dealer had no knowledge of scheduling except it cannot be done! They cannot explain why 12v battery should drain if scheduling attempted. Cannot explain why scheduling not possible via charger app. There is no error code so they cannot contact VW !! Whole range of chargers cannot be scheduled. I am awaiting reply from Ohme UK to see if they can confirm compatibility. Have also contacted VW customer care UK and DE for any update on this issue. Will post any meaningful responses

Just gone on the Octopus website to see if I could go on their Intelligent Go contract. Under compatible models all Golf GTEs were listed APART from the latest version. Sadly there were no Tiguans on the list at all.
I despair.
Well the Tiguan is on the Ohme list. However so far it’s a failure. Last night the charge was only 17% and failed from 1:00am to complete the charge with a red LED by the charging port on the car showing an error. In my view the new Tiguan will not take a charge from a managed system. I’m resorting to using a 3pin plug in charger from bed time and acept the higher charge until Off Peek charges come in. I’m so frustrated and feel cheated.

I have been reading this post with some interest

Looking at the OHME site, I found this

Apologies if this has already been reviewed by those who have Octopus as their supplier

The Ohme charger and VW Car selected from their database still a real problem. Last night no charge even though scheduled in the Ohme app. This new VW 2024 ehybrid just hates a managed system. How pathetic of VW to create such problems. I‘m thinking we need to make a much bigger fuss.

Charged mine from Ohme app, however if I left on schedule it only charges 80% which is recommended by VW but Iax change it at midnight and it's 100% by 0430. The cars mileage on E mode is all over the place atm.

You can see a label on the inside of the charging flap that has a clock and charge. I only got the car the other day and it’s been driving me mad too!

Hi, just got the 2024, mk3? Version after having a eHybrid 2023 model for a year. Cannot believe they have left out the function to schedule charging or that you cannot engine charge. Previous version had the option to build charge on a long run ready for electric driving in town. Our company hasn't managed to work out how to pay us to charge the car, so if it is never plugged in how does it maintain the charge to give the stated combined power output? Either it can be engine charged (to give the stated performance) or there will be a loss of epower or the software is limiting this. Not being able to schedule 'off peak' charging also seems stupid. Fair to say if I knew these issues had existed I would have looked elsewhere. Whats the point of the bigger battery if you make it more difficult to economically charge???

I'm using the Ohme Home Pro and with British Gas just under 8p off peak. The cars mileage is still showing 60 miles on 100% charge. On one of the days it showed 76 miles but still now 60. Hope this helps.
Update - 12v battery dead. Called out RAC replaced battery with a new slightly more powerful one. So seems like if the 12v battery isn't up to it's full potential Ohme app will suspend charging or as Ohme told me the car 'suspend charging'..
